2010 Rules

As the summer of ‘09 has progressed we have experienced problems that we have not experienced in the past. I try to make the camping experience better with each passing year, so I would like to address a few items now for the 2009 season.

-         BOATS - In 2007 boats on our docks along with other boats on the lake have been tampered with.  If you’re worried about your gas getting taken then please put locking gas caps on your boats that have inboard fuel tanks.  Put away all fishing gear and tackle boxes.  I hope that there are no problems occurring on the lake with boats.  I can not and will not be held responsible for someone coming off the lake and tampering with boats.  If your boat rips the cleats out of the dock and floats away then that is a different issue.  From now on, anyone who docks their boat at Lee’s should have the appropriate insurance to cover their boat.  I don’t know what else I can offer or suggest other then the above. You will never find a marina that will take FULL responsibility for your boat while docked at their establishment if something happens outside of their control.  We make sure everyone who docks with us has insurance for the unforeseen circumstances.  Please do not assume that Lee’s Park will cover any unforeseen expense as we will not.

In 2008 we have had no major problems with boat docked . Although we cannot guarantee there will be none. We do all we can to ensure that your boats are safe from vandals and thefts. We do add extra security staff during all special events we have at the park.

-         MORE ABOUT BOATS – Some of you have boats that are kept here during the summer but not on a dock.  For looks and lawn cutting purposes I request that all boats be put in the designated parking area for the summer.  If you come up on the weekends and use your boat you can keep the boat at your site for the weekend or if you have fishing tournament the following day and want the boat at your site for that night, just speak to me about it to make the proper arrangements.  If you plan on cleaning the boat you have the weekend to do so.  Monday thru Friday I do not expect to see any boats or trailers on any campsite unless the following day you’re going out fishing or it is a holiday weekday or weekend.  I am trying to make the place more presentable by not having boats and trailers all over the place and also, this makes it easier to cut the grass.

-         ELECTRICAL AND COAXIAL CABLES - Everyone is getting satellite dishes put in here which is fine by me.  However, while we are on the subject of being able to properly mow the grass, let me just state that if you do not bury your wire deep enough and it gets hit with the lawn mower and your cable is cut as a result, I will not be held responsible for replacement or repair.

-         SPEED BUMPS – While we are on various issues related to the condition of the lawn, I would like to address tenants driving around the speed bumps. These were put in for your safety, especially for the SPAC events. I would like to think that realizing that fact would lead our regular, seasonal tenants to set the example, but I see that is not always the case. In the future, I do not want to see ANYONE going all the way around a speed bump onto anyone’s lawn area – there is plenty of room if you feel the need to skip one tire, so do not go any further then that. They are only 2” off the ground, so it should not be an issue with anyone’s undercarriage.

-         DOGS - All dogs are supposed to be leashed while at the campground but I don’t enforce it unless the dog(s) make others feel uncomfortable.  If you have a dog and I get 2 complaints about the dog regardless of the complaints and you do not leash your dog then the 3rd time either the dog leaves or you and the dog leaves the property.  I am taking this very seriously and no one should feel that their dog has priority while here at Lee’s Park.  Do not take the dog leash rule lightly as I will not.  I also want people cleaning up their dogs’ crap.  If I get complaints that your dog is crapping where people walk and camp and you leave it then, the dog will have to leave the property.  Teach your dog to crap in your own yard or go out in the woods.  If the poop problem and wandering dog problem do not significantly improve, then ALL dogs will be leashed and if your dog can’t handle a leash then don’t bring it here.

-         RIDING TOYS, ATV’s, BMX BIKES, ETC. - From now on, there will be no gas-powered toys for kids allowed.  It is not fair to others so here it is in writing.  Our insurance company will not cover gas-powered scooters or ATV’s, so please don’t ask me about riding them.  Electric scooters are acceptable, but I ask that all kids wear a helmet and that these vehicles are not operated around the camp-ground after dark.  Please make your children aware of speed bumps and that there is traffic coming and going from the campground all the time. While we are on the subject, please consider helmets for your bicycle-riding kids, too.

-         BAD BEHAVIOR - Foul language – I do not want to hear of anyone using foul language that can be heard past the perimeter of your campsite. This is a FAMILY campground, and I will not tolerate foul language at all.  Regardless of the reason behind your choice to yell bad words, there will be a 3 strike rule on this policy, just like with the dogs.  The 3rd time I hear foul language or it comes to my attention then you leave.  No “buts” about it.  Just because I didn’t hear you curse doesn’t mean you’re safe.  If any of your neighbors report foul language being used and can describe to me who you are, it counts. If it’s your 3rd offense, you leave.  I am taking this matter seriously - foul language will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

-         BAD BEHAVIOR – Urinating in public – It has come to my attention that some of you are urinating outside of your camper.  If I see or it is reported to me from someone that you were seen urinating behind a tree or vehicle you will leave the property.  The campground is busy and just about every single site here has campers on all sides so there is no reason to think you can urinate behind a tree or vehicle and not be seen.  There will be no excuses.  Get caught ONCE you leave.

-         BAD BEHAVIOR – Drunk Driving - Drinking and driving on the land will not be tolerated.  If you think that just because you’re not on the highway that it is okay, you are wrong.  If I see you with open containers in your vehicle with someone intoxicated behind the wheel, you could be leaving the campground for good.  If I suspect you of drinking and driving on Lee’s Park property, then your stay after that point is in jeopardy. Save your drinking for the campfire.

-         PROBLEMS WITH OTHER TENANTS - No tenant has the authority through this business to pursue other tenants for any reason in a disorderly manner.  If anyone has an issue with another tenant or boat customer and the problem can not be handled in a CIVILIZED ADULT manner then please report it to the office.  If someone crosses you, you do not have the right to threaten or curse another tenant.  Arguing and yelling will not be tolerated from one tenant to another on this property under any circumstance, so do not try to take the law into your own hands.  If you have a problem with anyone who is not in your own family, then BRING IT TO ME–OR BURT--That's Our Job

-         2009 PRICING – As everyone knows here my father past away in April 07 and now we have to pay a lot of inheritance taxes to the state.  We could be left with little to no money after the taxes are paid.  Our property tax & school tax increase which will be at our doorstep new years day give or take a day are going to increase almost 50% since my dad is gone and I am not a senior citizen.  With this being said 2009 dock prices will be $50 per ft, 2008 return customers will only be charged $45.00 per foot .  Every seasonal person here will receive $100 off the price of there slip if they do a summer boat and camper package.  As for 2009 camper price I can not tell you.  I do not know how bad the financial situation will be for the business and family.  I have been fair and will try to be fair threw this matter but lets face it my dad is gone and money has never been an issue till now unfortunately.  I will let everyone know after Mid January of what the 2009 camping season dues will be or I will let you know April when everyone starts to show up.  There will be a seasonal camping price increase… how much yet I don’t know.  Thanks for your understanding on this matter.

*All price subject to change for 2010 season*

In closing, I want everyone’s stay here to be as great as it can be. As I said, I try to make things better with each passing year and it’s hard to please everyone but I try to do my best.  I try not to favor people regardless of if you’re seasonal or someone here for only one day.  I do not want any unneeded tension between me and anyone who camps here.  I can not stress it enough to talk to me about any problem or issue.  I am always running around so find me and drag me off to side if you want to talk about ANYTHING.  I do not want 1 or 2 bad apples to ruin the whole bushel so help me keep things running smooth.  I have responsibility as a business operator as do you have responsibility as a tenant so let’s work together and make each summer the best we possibly can and remember the door swings both ways.

Thanks

Leo Jr.
